Sod Installation

WAS/IS YOUR LAWN IMPACTED BY CHINCH BUGS, GRUBS OR EXTREME HEAT? ALL OF THESE ARE LAWN KILLERS AND HARD TO GET RID OF WITHOUT TEARING OUT YOUR EXISTING LAWN AND INSTALLING A NEW LAWN.

Sod installation offers an instant green lawn without the time and maintenance of starting from seed. We offer two types of sod installation. Regular installation is the most common option. Premium installation is the same process, except we excavate 5 inches and remove that old soil and then replace it with new fresh topsoil. With our premium installation service, it gives your lawn the best chance for success with fresh nutrients and more of a guarantee that any pests and weeds have been removed. We install sod all over Ottawa. Contact us today for your free estimate.

Regular Sod Installation Process

Excavation & Preparation

We start by removing all existing turf/vegetation and bring the grade to the proper elevation. All excavated material is properly disposed at a local waste facility.

Grading

We then install 1-2 inches of our own premium topdressing mix to give your new lawn the nutrients it needs to grow and thrive. We also ensure the yard is graded away from the house at a minimum 2% slope allowing water to drain away from the house. The area is then rolled with a roller for compaction.

Laying Sod

The most satisfying step! Installing high quality fresh cut sod from our local Ottawa supplier. Sod is laid in a staggered fashion to keep joints strong. New sod is cut to size around edges and obstacles for a perfect and flush fit. We then roll the sod with a roller to remove any air pockets or imperfections.

Water & Maintenance Information

The final step is to water the sod for half an hour, immediately after the sod has been rolled. For optimal health of your lawn, we supply you with a water and maintenance schedule tailored to Ottawa’s climate. A proper maintenance schedule will protect your investment and keep your lawn happy and healthy. After 3-4 weeks, you are able to enjoy the new lawn. The first cut should be done around this time or when you notice significant growth over 4 inches. Cut the lawn at the highest setting on your lawn mower on the first cut or 3.5 – 4 inches. After the first cut, the following cuts should gradually bring the mower height down to 3 inches to maintain a healthy cut lawn.
